How To: Beauty Salon Design
Beauty salons are places where people get beautified. So it NEEDS to look pleasing to the eye to be able to transfer that kind of energy. But what are the salon designs out there and how can you easily set one up?
Here are 5 concepts to consider:
1. Plan within the space you have
Before diving into designing your beauty salon, it’s important to know the space you have and visualize where you’re going to put your bigger furniture pieces. Have a small studio? That’s okay! There’s so many ways to make a small studio beautiful and functional at the same time.
2. Do some market research
It’s always best to do some market research of other beauty salons around your area. What’s their branding like? What’s the theme of their salon? What type of clientele do they attract? What do you like about their salon? What would you change? You’ll want to think of ways to make your salon stand out from your competitors.
3. Get inspired
The best way to get ideas is to see what others are already doing. Social media platforms like Pinterest and Instagram are filled with limitless inspiration. Here’s how you can properly utilize these platforms to collect inspiration:
Pinterest: It’s a search engine where you can find anything you want. Try searching keywords like “beauty salon inspiration”, “salon wall art” or “salon beauty beds” to help you get inspiration. If you see something that you like, you can pin it to your board so you can always refer back to it. Create and organize your boards as you see fit: “beauty salon decor”, “retail space”, “wall art”, “reception desk” and so on.
Instagram If you’re scrolling through Instagram and see something that might fit your salon decor, don’t just screenshot it, save it! On the bottom right corner of the photo, you’ll see a “bookmark” icon. Simply press the icon to save the photo. Now, you’ll be able to access all your saved/bookmarked photos at a later date. You can organize the saved photos into groups like “DIYs”, “things to buy” and so on.
4. Create a moodboard
Moodboards are a collection of images or words that act as a visual presentation of ideas for your dream beauty salon. With this, you will have a clear vision and a consistent design to follow. You can add photos of inspiration, feelings that you want to portray, and the color palette that you desire. It’s totally up to you! Once you have a moodboard to follow, you can refer to it before you make any purchases.
5. Follow your budget
Set a budget and follow it! Make a list of everything you want to buy, the cost of it and where you’ll get it. Now, assign each item to a “must-have” or “nice-to-have” category.
The trick is to prioritize your budget to the “must-have” items first, which are the items that will make your studio functional enough to start earning your first dollar. Once you have a few clients under your belt, you’ll have more disposable income to make your “nice-to-have” purchases.
